Although Colombia ranks second in global coffee production after Brazil, it is arguably the more famous of the two countries in terms of its production. The disciplined work of the Colombian people provides coffee of the very highest quality and consistency. Many Colombian families take great pride in the growing of their own coffee in small family farms. The nation's astonishingly rugged terrain provides optimum conditions for coffee growth, although this also makes it difficult to transport the coffee beans to producers. As a result, the beans are often transported using large vehicles and with such immaculate precaution and care, Colombia is able to produce exquisite coffee of the milder variety whilst maintaining a well-balanced acidity.
